In 1940, the Germans enslaved Europe and the world prayed for its rescue. Here in Normandy, the rescue began. Here the Greatest Generation landed on D-Day, Tuesday, June 6, 1944, to begin its liberation of France in World War II. Here the Normans still love Americans today because of the liberation.

Meet two of the Normans who remain forever grateful: Ypo, who endured German occupation as a child; and Emilie, a “Granddaughter of Liberty,” who works at a US cemetery in France. And meet their friend and hero Jack, US Army D-Day veteran from California.
